Northern Soul is a music and dance movement that emerged in the late 1960s in (where else) northern England. Born from the oh-so fabulous British Mod scene, ‘Northern Soul’ mainly refers to the particular style of black-American soul, ya know, the kind with a heavy beat and quick tempo. The kind that makes you want to dance all night long.
There is something particularly American about outlaws, especially those on the open road. This week we have put together a photo collection of some classic vintage motocycle clubs and riders. Ya’ know the names and fear the vests. These photographs are a mixture of working class weekenders, rock n’ rollers and devilish all-night partiers. Enjoy the photos of William Gedney, Danny Lyon and others that captured this moment in time.
